The Red Button Big Band

“Swing the Night” is the motto of The Red Button Big Band – big band musicians from Traunstein, Germany who are flying over for the Bank Holiday weekend to perform in Haywards Heath the town they are twinned with. After a welcome reception at Haywards Heath Town Hall, their first performance will be at The Methodist Church, Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath at 7.30pm.
Under the direction of Heinrich Kraller he will present the band performing old and new songs. Composers such as Dave Brubeck, George Gershwin and Victor Lopez stand for an exciting evening of big band music at its best.
The 21 piece band will be playing old favourites and newly commissioned works bringing their trademark energetic and riotous take on the big band sounds.
In full Glenn Miller mode they will have the audience tapping their feet with harmonic sophistication, rhythmic agility and technical accomplishments from this extraordinary band. Their exceptional playing technique and sense of harmony conveying the romanticism of forgone popular songs which will exude an emotional quality.
Take the a Train the signature tune of Duke Ellington’s orchestra will open their set, the music hots up to the fast rhythm of Funky Cha Cha, take a breath while you listen to the well-known Brazilian bossa nova, Girl from Ipanema and that is just the start of an outstanding evening featuring music from Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller, Ray Charles and beyond.
